What does our Logo had to do with our Trip?
The prickly pear is the official state plant of Texas. Although growing throughout the American Southwest, multiple species of the prickly pear grow natively in the state’s dry climate with colorful abundance. The distinctive red, yellow, and purple flowers that proudly stem from the flat, fleshy and thorned paddles are a testimony to the state’s growth, diversity, and rugged history. The prickly pear fruit is a familiar ingredient for jelly, salsa, sorbets, and barbeque recipes. More about Texas’ state plant at http://www.texascactuscouncil.net/stateplant.php

Why this trip?
The Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas"
